Charter school perfomance

Charter school contracts set out specific performance thresholds that schools need to meet.

These performance thresholds are based on a school’s Equity Index (EQI). This is to reflect the performance of equivalent state schools. We know that regular attendance and achievement rates are higher for schools where the students face fewer socioeconomic barriers.

Schools are expected not only to meet the minimum requirements but to keep improving and work towards the government’s overall education targets.

Charter schools are held to account for their performance, and the Authorisation Board can step in if they are not meeting the targets.
