Attendance

Charter schools are held to account for how regularly their students attend school.

Regular attendance is a standard measure used across the education system. It shows the percentage of students who have attended more than 90% of the term.

Attendance is measured each term. For charter school performance we measure the average over four terms. Schools are not required to meet the threshold in a single term.

Performance thresholds are set based on a school’s Equity Index (EQI). This is to reflect the performance of equivalent state schools.

We know that regular attendance rates are higher for schools where the students face fewer socioeconomic barriers.
